Situation: Two departments were
blended together into one organization with managers representing
two different organizations and cultures. The imperative
was to create a “well oiled” team that would
decrease accounts receivable significantly even during this
time of transition.
HCR Intervention: Through an
organizational development intervention, HCR coached both
managers through the transition, and worked directly with
the new team as requested by the manager in team building
techniques.
Outcome: The team achieved significant
reductions in accounts receivable, working together, and
better understanding each others roles and styles.
Leadership
Mentoring for Leaders
Q. I am the executive of my company and know
I need some assistance to sort through transition issues,
but am leery of asking just anyone for help- I know I need
some assistance, but am unsure about the term coaching.
We help newly promoted leaders, new to an organization, new
to project leadership or seasoned executives who need temporary
focused partnership to solve a company problem to achieve
success on their terms. Incorporating the coach approach into
a mentoring partnership, executives are able to frame the
request for help as a strength. We will help implement a mentoring
program within your organization to increase the internal
resources to strengthen leadership skills.
Situation: An executive in a
health care company was faced with some difficult decisions
regarding his team, his relationship with his superior,
and his change management effort that he was about to embark
on. There were no “trusted” and “safe”
resources available to him in his company, and he sought
out the services of HCR Consulting.
HCR Intervention: Through a long
term partnership with the executive and the HCR leadership
coach, he was able to receive coaching and mentoring on
a plethora of issues that came up over time. Knowing that
this part cheerleader, part sounding board was available,
he thought was invaluable. Establishing a trusted coaching
partnership allowed him to receive ideas, support, feedback,
and acknowledgement; something that had been previously
most difficult to find.
Outcome: The quality of his decisions
improved, and the confidence with which he led his team
increased. The team experienced more decisiveness in his
approach, and their satisfaction increased.

or Project Consultation
Q. Have you noticed that leaders are often put
in charge of committees/projects with a responsibility to
get it done, but with no direct authority over the team members?
We help project leaders effectively manage project through
strengthening their leadership skills for getting results
through people. We work with project leaders who need the
political savvy and “systems sense” to get the
desired outcome, without being “in charge” of
the employees that comprise their project team.
Situation: An organization was
noticing delays in billing resulting in delayed cash flow,
and at times lost claims.
HCR Intervention: Leadership
coaching with the clinical and administrative areas’
team leaders, combined with a facilitated cross functional
CQI team process, assisted the team to achieve the outcome.
Outcome: Significant reduction
in billing errors resulting in improved cash flow, with
reduced employee time and frustration.
